If you didn’t already know, there are over seven-thousand islands and cays in the Caribbean Sea. If your next holiday plans will be to visit a warm and sunny island with palm trees and abundant marine life, then this is where you want to go.  Each island offers its own culture, language and weather so choosing one can be a task but every one is amazing in its own way.

Jamaica is one of the more famous tropical destinations found in this sea and it offers lush lands with clear warm waters.  A cruise ship will dock at many of these islands, allowing you to experience many cultures and languages. Most cruise routes start from Florida and then some go south to Jamaica and the Caymen Islands and others go south-east to the Bahamas and down to St Barts, Martinique and Barbados.

Many people will book a cruise-and-stay adventure for their Florida holidays so they can enjoy both land and sea. They can create a tailor-made package deal that allows them a unique trip where they can take in the theme parks and then board their ship and take part in activities and facilities that the whole family can enjoy while as sea.

The story is really the same, no matter who you are or where you live in the world: life gets to be a lot of work. The problem is, there is not always the chance to travel and relax, the time you need to recharge the batteries and face each challenge with fresh eyes.

If you have kids and are like most families, you learn pretty quickly that you must take full advantage of the summer holidays. This is the time the kids are out of school, so they not only need something to do, but they are usually anxious to do something fun and memorable. A summer trip to a beachside resort might be the perfect thing here, as you can relax on your own while the kids are able to splash their cares away in the rolling waves of the surf.

Maybe your family is more into the winter months, in which case a trip to a mountainous region would likely make sense. This is a good time to plan for something later, as a skiing trip is rarely going to be inexpensive or free from lots of little additional costs that will accrue along the way.

Regardless of when you decide it is best for your family to travel it is important to schedule in some form of holiday trip every couple years, at least. Many families plan something every year – and some have multiple trips planned throughout. The point is to schedule some time to travel, and help your family to bond through the memories of shared experiences.

The Winter season can be a intolerable time of the year weather-wise, frosts, and even snow and gales can make remaining in England appear very depressing. It is for this reason that a lot of people try to go on a winter sunshine holiday or cruise. There are a large choice of countries to pick from, you do not need to travel too far to find the sun. Parts of Europe are much hotter than the UK during the UK winter. If you can’t decide which country to go for try them all with a cruise ! Have a look at Cruise Offers for more inspiration and the latest cruise deals from P&O and Thomson.

There are many health upsides to travelling on a winter sunshine break or cruise deal. The first could well be the fun. A staycation in England can be slightly depressing thanks to the lack of light and uninviting temperatures, the rush of happiness you feel knowing that you have dodged all of this darkness and are outside the warmer climate is wonderful. Another good point is the fact that the sun enables the body to create vitamin D, this can be quite beneficial and trials have shown that this can brighten your outlook.

If you choose to go on a winter package trip you need to ensure that you are well prepared. It may seem slightly weird including the sun cream whilst it is sleeting outside but this is indeed very important. If you pick to go somewhere that is very warm such as Bali then ensure that you pack a good suncream.

Flying away on a winter sun holiday / fly-cruise need not cost the earth. There are a lot of low cost holidays at this time of year that will allow you to get away for a lot cheaper than you think. Ensure that you browse around, browse on the internet and check out various different travel agencies before you decide to book your package holiday. Also be sure that you read reviews on your chosen trip so that you know exactly what you are getting for your cash.

Somewhere between Sweden and Finland in the gulf of Bothnia you can find some of the prettiest islands in that part of the hemisphere, known as the Aland islands. These islands number about 6500 with just sixty five being inhabited by local residents. Getting to the Aland islands is a treat in itself, with countless ferries traveling between the mainland and the main ports of call. These vessels are similar to a cruise liner and the two hour trip is comfortable with on board restaurants and shopping. If you are in a hurry to get there, you can board “Air Aland” and be on the ground in about thirty minutes from your departure time.

With so many islands to call your own, there is certainly a lot to see and do. During the warmer months, the beaches beckon to you with its deep blue waters. Spend the day just acquiring a tan or enjoying the smell of ocean fresh air. Boat excursions to other islands are a good choice if you simply want to explore. Other activities include, fishing, hunting, and a round of golf. The little village of Mariehamn is the main stopping off point for many of the restaurants and eating establishments. Most prices are fairly reasonable and the choices on your menu will take you from one part of the world to another. One of Aland’s known specialties is its pancakes and visitors talk about them long after they have left. Some restaurants suggest reservations and many offer out door seating for you to “people watch” and enjoy the fresh air.

Although Mariehamn is a reasonably small town with about 10,000 inhabitants, they are quite capable and ready to show its 1.5 million visitors (per year) a good time. A fair amount of night spots, whether disco’s or pubs, await you and some even offer you live music for you to dance the night away. Don’t stay up to late though, because Mariehamn can also surprise you with its opportunities to go shopping. Because it is the capital of the Aland islands, pretty much everything runs through Mariehamn. Make sure that you stop by Torggatan street as that is where most shoppers seem to get the best deals.  Tim at allpro
