Scotland is a wonderful destination for a holiday. It can offer many different landscapes for visitors to discover, so it’s no wonder that self catering in Scotland remains a popular option for holiday makers year after year.

Some of the most popular locations are those hidden among the hills, mountains, valleys and lochs that Scotland is famous for. Here, visitors can relax, cut off from the outside world, and simply enjoy the peace and serenity that they provide. The views aren’t to be forgotten either, with morning mists hanging over lochs, and glorious sunsets over hills or valleys.

Catching a boat across a loch is a great way to spend a day, and rowing out on one will give you the true loch experience. Exploring the hills or forests is also an excellent way to enjoy yourself in Scotland, and provides the true out door experience that Scotland is so good at.

Everybody knows about the highlands or lowlands, but choosing a cottage doesn’t just have to be defined by that. Argyll cottages will provide a different experience, and the coast of Scotland, which is neither part of the Highlands or Lowlands, provides yet another. These areas are just a few of those that Scotland has to offer.

Like any other country, exploring everything that Scotland has to offer isn’t possible in a single trip, or even a single blog post. We haven’t even covered the cities that exist in Scotland, but there’s enough written about each of those to fill volumes. However, not being able to discover everything about this beautiful country is part of its charm and draw.
