Going on holiday often means staying at a hotel during your stay. This is an excellent option, mind you, especially if you’re just travelling with one or two people. But there are more options that you can look into that can be just as good, if not better.
Sure, a hotel is very convenient. You have room service, cleaning service and most hotels offer an assortment of extras, like restaurants, bars and swimming pools, among others. But if you’re travelling with a large group, or with children, a hotel charge can quickly add up and become too expensive.
In these cases, renting a house temporarily may be the best choice. One of the best holidays I ever spent was when we rented a couple of holiday villas in Spain, in a holiday complex. Basically we could fit everyone and pay a whole lot less than we would have in a hotel. Plus, the complex had everything that a hotel could offer. A swimming pool and a kids’ pool, tennins courts and indoor football rings, there was even a small gym. And all within walking distance to the beach and very close to a nearby town. It was all we could ask for.

You wouldn’t think of going camping to be something that has so much thought put into as going on holiday and staying at a hotel. And this was probably the norm years ago. Camping grounds were pretty much stand alone units that lacked connection between one another and, therefore, didn’t have equal standards of quality.
Luckily, the trend now is to take camping seriously. And Keycamp self catering holidays are in the front line of this new trend.
With camping grounds all around the World, Keycamp offers a wide range of options for the holiday goer. You can choose to take your tent or your mobile home with you, but for those people who don’t own this equipment there are also chalets and villas available. This is an excellent option, since a lot of people would like to enjoy staying at a camping ground and making use of all of its advantages, but are, for one reason or another, unwilling to invest in the necessary equipment.
Some people hear “self-catering holidays” and automatically assume that they are very arduous holidays where you need to cook every meal. While it’s expected that you at least cook some meals, at least you have that freedom, the main part of it is you being able to make your own schedule and not be dependent on hotel meal times.

And with so many cities on the island to choose from, you will really have your work deciding on a destination cut out for you. After a long year in front of a desk or working hard at your job, there’s nothing better to look forward too than the long Summer holidays, so you can relax and enjoy some quiet time. We all aim to get that perfect set of conditions just right and in the right succession so we can have the best holidays, but that’s usually very hard.
My number one advice when going on holiday is not to get too caught up in the details. For that, it’s essential to have a good mastery of your holiday budget. Always aim for something lower than your overall budget so you can have room to maneuver in case something goes wrong. We’ve all had instances when something didn’t go as planned and we ended up spending more money than expected, and that can be a cause of stress. For instance, I remember a friend of mine was stunned to realize, upon arrival in Greece, that public transport was on strike and so the shuttle bus between the airport and the area of town where his hotel was was not working. He had to take an expensive taxi ride and for a while was stressed out thinking about how much of a toll that would take in his holidays.
Next up is, naturally, picking the place to go. Going for a Majorca holidays package will allow you to enjoy time at the beach and an active nightlife, but if you’re more into hiking or looking at historical sites, you’re probably better off going somewhere else.
It’s also important to make sure that all people that are going with you on holiday, be it your family or your friends, agree on where you’re going and what you’ll be doing. That Ibiza holidays package may sound really good and cheap, but if half of your friends isn’t into going out at night, or if you’re taking your grandma with you, you’ll be better off picking somewhere quieter. Ensuring that everyone is doing what they want and enjoying themselves will work wonders for the overall spirit and feeling of the group and it will also avoid unwanted stress for you, the holiday planner.
My final advice is to let go. If you have followed my advice on the budget, you can afford to skip some of the cheap options. Feel like sleeping in one day? Just do it. Never mind the inexpensive hotel breakfast, you can afford to have some native pastry at a café for one day.

Greek islands holidays are among the top holiday destinations in the World. And this doesn’t happen by accident. Greece has a great fame for being an awesome tourist destination , and this is due to several factors. The most important of which is, let’s face it, the natural beauty of the land. Surely, Greece has been blessed with amazing landscapes in both its mainland and its islands. And it’s the islands that attract the greatest part of the tourist excluding, of course, the capital Athens. Athens is famous and renowned for its historical sites and its cuisine. Greek cuisine is among the finest in the World and it incorporates elements from ancient Greece, Turkish cuisine and Western cooking in an amazing mix. Greece is also home to very good wine, mainly produced in the mainland, but also in the islands.
As for the islands, there are too many of them for us to mention all of them. But there is a rule of thumb among Greeks that says that the furthest islands are from the mainland, especially from Athens, the better they are. This is mostly due to two factors. First of all, pollution: Athens is a big city and along with its port of Piraeus it somewhat dirties the waters of the Mediterranean around it. Not to a very noticeable extent, but enough that you notice it when you travel further away from the mainland. The other factor is that the closest you are from the mainland, the bigger the chances of people from the mainland taking a ferry to visit the island and completely ruining your peace and quiet.
No Greece holidays are complete without a visit to the most amazing island in the country, that also has the added bonus of being very far away from the mainland, and all the standard of excellence that comes with that. Santorini is an absolutely breathtaking piece of godly art that makes you wonder why you didn’t get there sooner, why you can’t stay longer and how soon you can return. The best times to visit the island are late spring and early autumn, when there are less tourists, both foreign and Greek. Also, during the summer months the island is very hot and sometimes there are some problems with water supply, although that’s never really been a problem in recent years. But don’t take our word for it, go there and see it for yourself.

Many people will spend time spraying themselves and their family members with insect repellent before spending time outdoors. But now you don’t need to do that anymore. Today we have clothing that has a repellent already on it. No need for constant applications of a cream or a spray.
You will see a dramatically reduced number of bites because the repellent, Permethrin, is on the fabric, not on your skin. This clothing provides effective protections against bites of many types. Ants, ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers and many more. This shield is called Buzz Off and is the very first ever registered by the EPA.
This apparel is not only effective but effortless and orderless. This repellent can be found on clothing like pants, hats, shirts and other garments. Permethrin is a man-made form of natural insect repellent that is taken from the chrysanthemum plant. It was the armed forces that was behind the development of this repellent. This way the field troops would have protection and it would be long lasting. Buzz off is highly effective as long as you are wearing the clothing. Compared to skin applied repellents that last for just a few hours, this repellent is non-stop in the job it does.

Whether your flight was postponed until tomorrow, or you’re looking to extend your holiday and visit another city, finding last minute accommodation availability can be tough. Although it may seem like you’re in for expensive rates, it is possible to find affordable hotel rates last minute. Here are some tips for finding Warwickshire hotel rooms.
If you have a laptop with you, stop by a cafe with wi-fi, or visit an internet cafe to get online. This will be the easiest way to find what is in the area, and what price is cheapest. Driving around from hotel to hotel just to find they are fully booked can be frustrating. Hotels will update their availability status online, which means you won’t waste your time with those who have no rooms.
If you don’t have immediate access to the internet, you can use a phone book to locate the hotels in the area. Calling them each one by one may not seem like an ideal scenario, but it will tell you immediately if they have any availability. If you know anyone in the area, they can give you a starting point for condensed hotel locations. Before you leave on your trip, always be aware with all the accommodation options in the area just in case.

The normal car hire companies have several low and middle range rental options that are good enough for the average person looking for a rental car, but don’t do much for the high class costumer that wants a little more of an edge in their rented cars. This is the kind of costumer that prefers comfort and style over the economic options, or even just the safe and roomy cars that so many people opt to rent during their holidays. Normally, this kind of costumer is also in town for reasons other than just a holiday or a normal business meeting. In many countries, upper management conducting important negotiations will want to be seen in a high end car as a sign of prestige.
For this reason, many car rental companies have started an executive car hire program, or have added “executive class” to their rental car tiers. This provides a much larger array of options for the executive on the go, but will also give more options for the average individual renting a car. If you’re already renting an expensive car, why not upgrade to a luxury class car? Often, the advantages are great, as those cars are very well kept.

It’s raining outside as I write this article, but apparently summer sun is right around the corner! A statement us Brits are unfortunately all-too-familiar with. Regardless of this, increasing numbers of Brits are neglecting the traditional jaunts abroad and opting for the slightly more old fashion ‘stay-cation’. Indeed, many more will be packing their bags and heading for the hills this summer with tent in-tow.
But packing for camping when the weather is as unpredictable as the quality levels of grub cooked up on your portable stove, it is important to get it spot on.
Below are some handy tips suitable for first timers or know-it-all pros (could maybe don’t quite know it all)
- Designate a packing area. Set aside a corner of your bedroom/living room and pile your camping gear there prior to packing. Do this several days before you leave, as it gives you plenty of time to add/remove things are you remember them.
- Pack your clothing with the weather in mind. Have a look at a detailed forecast. If it is scheduled to rain but not for a few days, pack your waterproofs deeper in your bag. Try and avoid cotton and whites, remember an outdoor fleece for the chillier nights, and pack some synthetic long underwear.
- Test your ‘hardware’ before you go. Make sure you know how to operate the camp stove and don’t forget fuel.
- Purchase a good sleeping pad. A popular trick is to stack a full length pad on top of a shorted one. The extra warmth and comfort makes the extra carrying baggage worth it.
- Decide your luxuries and your absolute necessities. Depending your camping experience levels, a handheld GPS may be all well and good, but a map and compass also work just fine.
- REMEMBER A TORCH!
The weather can be a cruel mistress, so make sure you are prepared for all eventualities. This way you’ll all set to enjoy your camp whatever the weather
