Vienna is a unique city. It’s not uncommon to find cities that have the best of two worlds, either featuring a unique countryside or gardens to balance a modern cityscape or mixing the old and the new, as in historical buildings alongside a modern cityscape. But within the center of Vienna you can find a diverse set of cultures and architecturally unique congregation of buildings. It’s a town known by its historical center, full of Romantic buildings, but it also features a modern business center, with skyscrapers and facilities worthy of any modern capital. And within this seemingly irreconcilable cityscapes, we can also find beautiful gardens and, surprisingly, small to medium ethnic neighborhoods full of foreign life.

But perhaps the most picturesque aspect of Vienna is its flea markets, of which the Naschmarkt is, if not the greatest, at least the most famous. Originally a milk market, it started carrying fruits and vegetables. With the normal re-invention of many Vienna landmarks, it now carries food and items from all around the world, from traditional Austrian and Viennese products to exotic spices and food items from the farthest corners of the World. The cheap flights to Vienna now make it almost worthwhile to take a trip to the city and get a taste of the World in the market – just make sure you can carry the goods back home.

Some of us have outgrown hotels, and bed and breakfasts. We want something more out of our holiday. We might even be under the assumption that there really are no other options for traveling, accommodation options are the same no matter where you go in the world, no matter what country you try next. What you may be unaware of is the concept of a self catering holiday, with self catering accommodation. This is the perfect option for those wanting something more than just a sad hotel room, or a overly crowded hostel.

If you are looking for a home away from home, then this is the option for you. This type of accommodation gives you the freedom of your own home and space, the very thing that hotels can never give you. You can have your own home, with all the same comforts, to unwind at the end of a long day of sight seeing. You can still enjoy all the same facilities that you have come to know and love, and something more. You can have a swimming pool, as well as tennis courts and restaurants. Everything you need on a vacation with the cozy atmosphere you crave.

We all have been affected by the recent economic recession, more so for travelers who are excused for hunting down a more cost effective way in which to travel. There are a few travel gadgets available that can help you out in this situation and help to provide luxury travel. The biggest expense out there now is the fee for checked baggage. That fee can be as high as $100 per bag so if you don’t want to be surprised by an over weight checked luggage at the counter, invest in a portable luggage scale. They ranges in price from $7 to $30 and help you keep an eye on the weight you are carrying. Another device of help is the iGo Charge Anywhere. This is a rechargeable battery pack that can accommodate multiple personal electronic devices. This way you can stay in touch with family and friends without having to hunt down an electrical outlet or is the nearby outlet is already taken by someone else. If you are one of those travellers that cannot face the world without a morning cup of java, there is a travel drink holder called Tugo. It is a detachable cup-holder that attaches to the handles on luggage that are upright.

We are all aware of the global economic crisis. The news is filled with gloomy financial forecasts and we are regularly updated about falling markets all over the world.

So with this depressing economy, is it still practical to travel?

The answer is definitely yes.

You might think that this article is crazy for suggesting travel amidst the current financial downturn. But as they say, there are two sides of a coin. While it is true that everybody’s bank accounts apparently get smaller everyday, the crisis also gives you better deals on almost anything.

The slow economy dries up the demand for a lot of things. Nowadays, people only care about having their basic needs met. These needs are obviously food, shelter, basic clothing and medical necessities. So other industries suffer from the drop in consumer expenditure.

One of the industries that are hit the hardest is tourism. People do not want to travel anymore. How could they even think about spending money on high-priced hotels or unreasonable airfare?

Tourism players are aware of this. So to keep themselves from being completely obliterated, they come up with good deals that can lure people to travel again.

Hotels are quickly slashing off their rates. An article said that you can now get a $200 London hotel room for just $140. Other vacation spots also cut down their rates to accommodate tourists with smaller budgets. Aside from giving discounts, some airlines are thinking of new ways to minimize their rates.

It sounds selfish to say that the economic crisis is a cause for celebration, but let’s face it, the diminishing travel rates will be gone as soon as the world’s economies get back on their feet. And hey, when you travel now, you will be helping the economy by spreading your wealth around.

So go out there now and help save the economy!
