Going on holiday often means staying at a hotel during your stay. This is an excellent option, mind you, especially if you’re just travelling with one or two people. But there are more options that you can look into that can be just as good, if not better.

Sure, a hotel is very convenient. You have room service, cleaning service and most hotels offer an assortment of extras, like restaurants, bars and swimming pools, among others. But if you’re travelling with a large group, or with children, a hotel charge can quickly add up and become too expensive.

In these cases, renting a house temporarily may be the best choice. One of the best holidays I ever spent was when we rented a couple of holiday villas in Spain, in a holiday complex. Basically we could fit everyone and pay a whole lot less than we would have in a hotel. Plus, the complex had everything that a hotel could offer. A swimming pool and a kids’ pool, tennins courts and indoor football rings, there was even a small gym. And all within walking distance to the beach and very close to a nearby town. It was all we could ask for.
